Bakers, young and old, will enjoy "baking" up a batch of fudgy-looking wooden brownies. Six "slice and serve" brownies fit in the baking tray, which comes with an oven mitt. Decorate the brownies with 18 assorted toppings, cut and serve with the wooden knife and spatula. The extra toppings can be stored in the cardboard brownie mix box. Extension Activities: More Ways to Play and Learn: Place all of the brownie topping pieces together and ask the child to sort them into three groups: powdered sugar, chocolate chip and walnut fudge. Ask the child to count the number of brownie topping in each group (6), and the total number of brownie toppings (18). Lay a few topping pieces in a line to form a simple pattern (chocolate chip, powdered sugar, chocolate chip, powdered sugar). Ask the child to duplicate your pattern. Add more brownie-topping pieces to your pattern to increase the challenge. Ask the child to make brownies to order. For example, you might request three chocolate chip brownies or one brownie with powdered sugar or a tray of walnut fudge brownies. Ask the child to prepare several brownies with topping. Ask the child to study the brownies, then to close his/her eyes. While the child's eyes are closed, remove and conceal one of the brownies. Ask the child to describe the missing brownie.
